Kutztown University Shooting Today-Campus Police Respond to Dixon Hall Incident
Kutztown University was the focus of concern early Wednesday, September 9, 2026, after university police responded to a report of a weapon inside Dixon Hall.
According to the university’s current safety alert, police received the report at 9:57 p.m. Tuesday evening and immediately responded to the residence hall. Officers conducted a thorough investigation, including a door-to-door check of the building.
No Weapon Found and No Active Threat
The university said officers did not locate a weapon during their investigation. An all-clear was issued at 12:42 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Kutztown University also confirmed that no injuries were reported and there is no active threat to the campus.
Police remained on site following the incident as authorities continued to address the situation and provide reassurance to the university community.
Several law-enforcement agencies assisted Kutztown University Police during the response, including police from the Borough of Kutztown, Northern Berks, Fleetwood and Pennsylvania State Police.
Campus Community Receives Safety Update
The university’s safety alert was issued to inform students and members of the campus community about the incident and the outcome of the police response.
Kutztown University said its Counseling Center would also be available to students at Beck Hall beginning at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, following the overnight incident.
Students and staff were encouraged to remain attentive to official university communications and to provide information to police if they have relevant details.
No Confirmed Shooting
Despite online searches referring to a possible Kutztown University shooting today, the university’s current official safety alert does not report a shooting. Instead, it describes a report of a weapon in Dixon Hall that was investigated and ultimately resulted in an all-clear.
The incident should also not be confused with the fatal 2022 shooting at an off-campus apartment complex near Kutztown University. In that earlier case, 18-year-old Diego Velazquez was killed at the Advantage Point student apartment complex. He was not a Kutztown University student.
As of the latest official information, there is no active threat to Kutztown University’s campus and no reported injuries connected to the September 9 incident.
